[Yearbook] Marion Studwell

Marion Studwell

“Skits”… warmhearted … serious in nature … favors knitting and sewing … wants to be her own boss … “Oh, honest!”.

From Marion’s 50th reunion class greeting…

I have pondered long and hard over the last 50 years. What have I done and what is really relevant to my high school class members. Well, here goes… it is a long curriculum vitae.

Ed Sharkany and I married in 1957. We have three children. Nancy, an accountant, is married and the mother of Neil, 13, and Jennifer, 11.

Terry, a media specialist, is married and the mother of Katie, a Psychology major on the Dean’s List at Appalachian State.

Our son, Gregg, has hiw own architectural design business in Raleigh, the recipient of awards for home designs in Raleigh for several years. While Gregg is not married, he has given us our “grand-dogs”: first “Shadow” and now “Greta”, both Weimaraners.

I received my BS degree from East Carolina U. and taught school briefly in Goldsboro, NC.

When Ed was transferred back to Connecticut, I was diverted from public school teaching to become the director of recruiting and training for Connecticut Limousine. During this time I also taught supervisor management classes and was a Human Resources consultant for AAIM throughout western Connecticut.

Since our move to Whispering Pines, NC, I volunteer and sit on the Advisory Council of Volunteers at FirstHealth More Regional Hospital, Pinehurst; am a member of the North Carolina Triangle Junior Council, and Governments Advisory Council on Aging; am the president elect of North Carolina Hospital Volunteers. In 2003 I was named North Carolina Outstanding Volunteer.

Well, that sums up my chunk of life to date. However I am remiss in not adding that we are owned by our Mini-Dachshund, Lisle. She keeps us entertained and active.
