“Barbara”… transferred from Roosevelt High in sophomore year … a scholar in the true sense of the word … sincere church worker … has what it takes to succeed.
From Barbara’s 50th reunion greeting to classmates…
I can’t believe it’s been 50 years!
I earned a BA from Hope College in Holland, MI, and an MA from Illinois State U.
I taught junior high school English for 28 years, including 23 in Dunlap, IL (a suburb of Peoria), from where I retired in 1998.
Through my first marriage in 1959 I have a son and a daughter. Thomas John (“T.J.”) Smith, lives in Allentown, PA, with his wife and their four-year-old son, Adam. Karen Marie McCoskey lives in Decatur, IL, with her husband and their two children, Aaron (9) and Lucas (6).
Through my second marriage in 1987 I have three step-sons and one step-daughter, all of whom live nearby. I also have four step-grandsons, three of whom are married, and four step-granddaughters.
We have a great granddaughter, who’s three, and a great grandson, who was born in February. In addition we expect our second great grandson in May.
I volunteer as an ESL (English as Second Language) tutor for adults, am active in our church, and enjoy gardening, reading and writing little books for my youngest grandchildren.
I’m sorry I won’t be able to attend the reunion, but my thoughts will surely be with you August 13.
