[Yearbook] Nancy Needham

Nancy Needham

“Nancy”… arresting black eyes and hair … terrific organizing ability … trustworthy treasurer … fond of tennis and sailing … college bound.

From Nancy’s 50th reunion greeting to classmates…

The highlight of my retirement years is my volunteer work as chairman of BTA/BOLT (Boxford Trails Assoc./Boxford Open Land Trust). I helped start the BTA in 1978 when my daughters were riding their horses on the trails in Boxford. As development came to Boxford, we (BTA) urged the Planning Board to support the protection of trails in subdivisions. And we grew to become the local land trust for Boxford, saving and protecting trails as well as open spaces…

The trail system in Boxford is wonderful and now we are mapping it into GPS. Preservation must be my middle name now because I serve on the Boxford Historic Commission, the Boxford Community Preservation Committee and am now working to establish an agricultural commission in Boxford.

My two daughters are living in the west: Susan in Colorado and Christine in Ski Valley, NM. Independent young ladies… George Horner and I were married [in] 1981… second marriage for him and my third.

I look forward to our 50th. My parents are both dead, so George and I will be staying at one of the motels or inns. It used to be nice to stay with my parents in Weston during reunions…
