“Dick” … a likeable extrovert, known for his ’53 Ford … devotes his talents to the Projection Club … likes tinkering with cars in spare time … college and then business.
From Dick’s 50th reunion greeting to classmates…
After graduation from Staples, two years at Nichols Jr. College, ABA. Spent next two years working for the family business, The Embalmers Supply Co., that was in Westport.
Spent next two years with Uncle in the Chemical Corps of the Army. During my tour of duty, met and married Joan Brown of Barre, VT.
Moved back to Westport when Uncle was done with me and started a family. Have one son, Shawn. Continued with the family business, became president in 1975 and chairman of the board in 1999 when I semi-retired and moved to Jupiter, FL.
Was very active with the Westport YMCA, Camp Group, commander of the Power Squadron group in Westport, board member of Saugatuck Harbor Yacht Club and a past president of the Westport Rotary Club.
Still active in Rotary here in Jupiter, member of the board of directors of the condo association where we live, past president of the Martin County Model Railroad Club and am now secretary and treasurer of the club. Working my way down, not up.
