[From Danbury News-Times] On March 31, 2010, Gloria [Bennett] Hewes, Glenn and Melanie’s mom, went to her everlasting home. At that same moment, she looked into the wondrous amazing eyes of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She worked many years in the Danbury School System and later moved to IBM, where she retired after 15 years of service. She is also a past president of the Danbury Emblem Club #48.

She is survived by her children, Melanie Monserrat and son-in-law, Jaime Monserrat of Florida, and Glenn Hewes and her daughter-in-law, Diane Hewes of Danbury; her two beloved and amazing grandchildren, Tyler and Carly; her former husband, Philip Hewes of Southbury; her sister Caroline Smith of New Fairfield; and nieces and nephew.

The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm and a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.

In lieu of flower, please feel free to make a donation to your local chapter of Hosp9ice, your church or your favorite charity in her name.
