Chip DiBlanda, RIP

Chip DiBlanda, sad to report, passed away on January 24, 2011. Long overdue on getting this posted, we learned of Chip’s passing last year. Picking up from an earlier post, I had heard from Chip a year ago. He had learned through his son that John Ottinger and I were trying to locate him. He […]

Len Eskey, RIP

This is going to upset quite a few classmates, seeing as how popular Len was…
Len passed away yesterday, Saturday, March 26, at a hospice facility in or near Vero Beach, FL.
I took a call today from Mike Hyman who relayed this sad news to me—he, in turn, having been notified by Judy Gault […]

Francis (”Bud”) Bennett, RIP

It saddens me to post news of another classmate’s passing, Francis Leroy “Bud” Bennett, Jr. Thanks to Jacee McCluckie for forwarding this to our attention. Bud passed away in his sleep last September. Jacee has been trying to get in touch with his family. You’ll find his obituary here.

Lyn Hackley, RIP

Another sad passing, I am sorry to report. Lyn died last September. The only news we have at this time comes from Judy Gault, longtime friend of Lyn’s, who informed me recently of Lyn’s death in an email:
Also to let you know I heard from Lyn Hackley’s daughter. Karen. who sent me a Christmas card […]

Succumbing to illness after many years, our class spokesman/master of ceremonies, Don vonLiebermann, passed away peacefully at his home in Weston last Friday, April 2. His obituary is posted at westportnow.com which you can read here. From the obit: “Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Thursday, April 8 at 11 a.m., […]

Fraser Smith, RIP

I found the following information posted at the Rootsweb website. The exact name spelling (Fraser Wood Smith), the fact that the birthdate is in range (August ‘36), and the fact that his Social Security card was issued in CT—all seem to confirm, according to my research advisor, John Ottinger, that this is our guy. I […]

Richard Masiello, RIP

A tad late in this posting… Still, a few of our classmates—particularly those who attended Greens Farms Elementary—may not be aware of Richie Masiello’s passing. It happened last May. According to one lifelong resident, he died of a heart attack.
Richie graduated from Bedford Junior High but then went on to a trade school in […]

Muriel Burke, RIP

[Original post by webmaster, 3-22-06]
Alas, more sad news. Muriel passed away March 10 in Fairfield. She was a long-time resident of Fairfield and a teacher in both Westport and Fairfield school systems. Word came from her long-time friend, Lynn Harding Huck, passed to Gail Armitage who passed it along to me. I […]
